Description:The prickly leaves of the Pandanus spiralis, called 'murrhala' in Iwaidja, are used for the weaving of baskets and mats. The informant demontrates how to split the freshly collected leaves of Pandanus spiralis into long, thin strips which are then hung up and dried in the sun. When the strips have dried they are ready for the dyeing process.
