Description:One recording in which Mr Phulim Hakhun and Mr Khithing Hakhun tells the First Blood story. This consists of one sound file: SDM23-20091221-03_SM_T_Phulim_FirstBloodStory.wav The details of this recording are as follows: SDM23-20091221-03_SM_T_Phulim_FirstBloodStory.wav_Duration 7’45”, This recording is about doeq¹so¹. After the festival of voengdoe, people would go hunting for monkeys and other wild animals like deer. On that day, they will have phoq¹saq¹doeq¹ and each and every one of the men who has got a monkey will get this. They will touch the body where there is blood, and all of them will touch the dead monkey’s blood. That blood will be brought and kept in the part of the house where the animals heads are kept – called potapthung, which is outside on the front porch (vaka). So they will place the blood there. This is the custom to be followed. If there is an accident or a death that takes place before the event of doeqso, then the year is unlucky and so they must get this doeqso vi (monkey) and its blood to bring good luck to the house, and a good year for the community.s
