In the first part the Buddha (Sange Tsomdzen) is on his pilgrimage to seek enlightenment. Along the way he meets a woman in a lake who offers him alcohol, so that he won't be hungry, he will be able to speak, to talk to people and be strong. Then there is a story about how using elephant and tiger brains in the yeast of chang (beer) will make the drinker strong, while using snake brains will make them roll on the ground drunk like a snake. A passerby cannot understand what they mean when they talk about their father being away killing, and their mother sewing. The person tells the king, how is fascinated by these riddle-speaking children. Eventually it is revealed that the children's father is cutting (killing) grass, and their mother is sewing grain.
