| Description: | Moab Stringband is one of Papua New Guinea’s best-known stringbands, based in Raluana near Kokopo in East New Britain. It is closely associated with George Telek, whose fame with Painim Wok helped bring the band wider recognition, and its style is described as faster and more rock-driven than many other PNG stringbands. This recording is about rehearsals and practice of the songs in the album Matogo – George Telek and the Moab Stringband. There are 12 tracks in its main release. Song List. 1. Dickens 2. Harrison Kimbe 3. Paska 4. Tolags 5. Lancy 6. Kununurki 7. Nram (Navunaram) 8. Maima 9. Kikistar 10. Abebe 11. Jenny 12. Gogol The songs are all written by George Telek and the Moab Stringband and are sung mainly in Kuanua(Tolai language) and Tok Pisin, with lyrics framed as intimate, village‑based love or relationship songs. The album was recorded in 2006 during the Sing Sing tour in Australia and released in 2007 on Wantok Musik. Source: Wantok Musik Foundation (David Bridie & Steven Gagau, April 2026).
