| Description: | Riot Squad was a heavy rock/metal band from Rabaul, Papua New Guinea, active in the early 1990s. Led by guitarist John Warbat—who also engineered and produced—the group recorded at the renowned Pacific Gold Studios. The musicians include Kenneth Bale (lead vocals), John Wariga (vocals), Martin Bobo (bass), Henry Maniot (drums), and Patti Potts Doi (synthesizer). The band releases two albums: a 1993 self-titled or first album with tracks like "Get That Love," and Vulcan Rock, whose masters were recovered from the 1994 Rabaul volcanic eruptions that destroyed the studio and ended their recording career. Riot Squad is distinct in PNG's vibrant rock scene in Rabaul pre-eruptions and their songs have impact of the 1994 Rabaul eruption on local music culture like this Vulcan Rock album background and influence.
