Description:Video recording clips of Uramat Mugas (Uramat Story Songs) 2021, a collaborative, immersive AV installation project displayed at QAGOMA for The 10th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT10). The project showcases spectacular bark cloth masks (Qawat and madaska) from the Uramat clan in East New Britain, PNG, in the Gallery installation. The clips celebrate Uramat fire ceremonies and stories, highlighting the role of spirits and the parallel universe in their daily lives. The Uramat clan of Gaulim and Wunga villages through the late Gideon Kakabin in 2017–18 where Uramat Mugas gives visual appreciation of the spectacular sculptural and graphic qualities of the masks and their decoration reflecting this cultural group’s contemporary expression of customary art. The project installation honors the work of the late Gideon Kakabin and Uramat leader Lazarus Eposia. And the exhibitions were from 4 December 2021 to 25 April 2022.
