| Description: | Uramat Mugas (Uramat Story Songs) is an audio-led collaborative project associated with the Uramat Baining community in East New Britain, PNG, and QAGOMA’s APT10 presentation. The project includes a soundtrack by David Bridie featuring the Uramat bamboo drumming orchestra, chants, and village sounds, designed to immerse listeners in the ceremonial world behind the masks. In Uramat Mugas (Uramat Story Songs), Bridie served as the lead music producer and composer for the immersive audiovisual installation at QAGOMA's APT10 (2021). He collaborated with the Uramat Baining community from East New Britain, PNG, creating a soundtrack featuring their bamboo drumming orchestra, chants, and village sounds to accompany ceremonial masks and stories. The audio recordings belonging to the Uramat Story Songs document the ceremonial music, ambient soundscapes, and story songs (mugas) of the Uramat people — one of six linguistic subgroups of the Baining peoples of East New Britain Province.
