Description:Revanmates Stringband is a performing group from the Duke of York Islands, East New Britain Province, PNG. It was active in the Rabaul music scene and thriving in the 1980s–1990s before the devastating 1994 Rabaul volcanic eruption. The Duke of York Islands are closely tied to the Tolai cultural and musical sphere centred on Rabaul, and local stringbands like Gilnata are explicitly identified as coming from the Duke of Yorks in East New Britain. Projects like Songs of the Volcano and A Bit Na Ta document Tolai and Duke of York ensembles that combine stringband guitars with Tolai three‑part harmonies and local histories, underlining how this sound encodes community memory and identity. The song list to be determined and the summary of the recordings with contains instrumental stringband tracks, singing and vocal performances.
