| Description: | Ate Udang describes how a rattan trip would last two weeks on average and that they would usually exchange the rattan with rice and afterwards go up to the mountain again to continue working with rattan. Ate tikkay asks her how they would manage with water and food during the trip and Udang explains that they had to carry it with them. She continues saying that nowadays the places where people work with rattan have also very little water. Tikkay and Udang continue by explaining how money they would make with the rattan and how they would budget it and whether it was worth to trade it directly with rice or not. Some man however would also change their rattan with gin and let their family starve. Tikkay explains that she would like to go again to the mountain and work with rattan but she is afraid of snakes. If one of her children protects her of sknakes by watching, that would be fine, but not on her own. | |
