Description:Wachapa Chovida tells the traditional story of how a mysterious boy appeared, and was taken in by an old woman. The people mistreat the boy and he leaves, then a flood comes. The old woman escapes by following the boy's parting instructions to climb a genipap tree, and then somehow she becomes a young man when the flood recedes, and catches a parrot for a wife, from which all human races descend. The story was recorded on a Zoom H4N. There are two WAV files in this bundle, the first in Kandozi and in the second the same speaker retells the story in Spanish, Both are transcribed and translated into English in the accompanying ELAN files, and the Kandozi version is glossed.
