Description:In this video recordings, the old speaker Elisabeth Mena shows the traditional way of weaving baskets. More precisely, the type of basket shown here is referred to as topola in the language. It was generally used to preserve uncooked food such as taro, yams or potatoes. Nowadays, according to the speaker, this type of baskets are rarely used and produced by community members. Recently, they have been replaced by Western tradition tools. However, Elisabeth uses traditional baskets on a daily basis and sell them to other community members. The session takes place at the speaker's place.
Valentina Alfarano is the principal investigator of this project.
