Description:		This recording is a powerful monologue about language endangerment and the documentation of Zenzontepec Chatino. TCR talks about how the language is being lost as people of his community shift more to Spanish. He then recounts some details about the Zapotec and Chatino survey we participated in on the PDLMA, naming many of the other participants, native speakers of other indigenous Mexican languages, in that project and the PDLMA dictionary creating project. He talks about how his own children refuse to speak Chatino and even make fun of him for doing so. He then talks about how the consciousness of many in the community is being corrupted by adopting new values from outside the community, getting involved in politics, and rejecting the traditional culture and values. He talks about Alfonso Merino's efforts to teach and promote native language literacy and the resistance that he has faced. TCR then talks about the work he is doing with EC and the importance of documentation in light of the current situation threatening the language and culture.
