Title:Birds that have disappeared
0185-Birds that have disappeared
Documentation of Zenzontepec Chatino language and culture
Contributor:TCR
Coverage:Mexico
Date:2007-07-11
Description:TCR tells EC and JRR about three species of large and/or colorful birds that used to be found in the Zenzontepec region but not anymore: macaws, a type of parrot, and a large species of woodpecker. For the most part they were killed off either because they were large and therefore used as a food source or because they were harmful to crops. The text is one of a set in which TCR was educating JRR about their traditional culture and the importance of valuing it and undertaking the documentation.Audio duration [00:04:21]
