Title:The spotted grasshopper and the plague
0185-The spotted grasshopper and the plague
Documentation of Zenzontepec Chatino language and culture
Contributor:TCR
Coverage:Mexico
Date:2010-07-31
Description:TCR relates the story of the origin of grasshopper plagues. In the past, there was a very greedy man who only worked and worked. He hoarded his corn and only gave his wife very little to cook for his mother who raised, nursed, and fed him while he grew. The other people were hungry too and he did not share. When he goes to his granary, he sees that his corn converted into the flying pests, which then rolled onto him and ate him down to the bone. There is a short Spanish recap beginning at 7:24 after the Chatino relation. Audio duration [00:10:57]
