Description:KGP written story of "the gun, the devil and the man."
Lacandon Cultural Heritage is a documentation of the language and culture of the northern Lacandon(Maya), who live in the rain forest in Chiapas, the south-eastern state of Mexico. They number approximately 350 men, women and children, who have retained much of their traditional culture and religion. The project serves as a preservative measure against loss of the traditional knowledge, stories, and verbal performances that are central to Lacandon culture. It also serves as an interactive resource tool for linguists and non-linguists to access data relevant to their areas of interest, such as folklore, ethnobotany, cultural anthropology, etc.
This file was generated from an IMDI 1.9 file and transformed to IMDI 3.0. The substructure of Genre is replaced by two elements named "Genre" and "SubGenre". The original content of Genre substructure was: Interactional = '', Discursive = '', Performance = ''. These values have been added as Keys to the Content information.
KGP's The Pistol Story of the gun, the devil and the man, is a written text by KGP, who wrote it for the collectors in July 13, 2000. It has been transcribed and typed into Pistol_KGP.txt .
The text is written in Lacandon by KGP. Spanish translations were entered in by the collector and KGP.
KGP is alone while he writes this narrative.
KGP is the second youngest son of CK and KM. He was born in the community of Naha and has lived there all his life. He is one of a few northern Lacandóns who can read and write Lacandón and Spanish. He began working on the current project with Cook and Carlson in 2000.
The collector of this session data is also responsbile for the collection of all of the data sessions and the whole project.
