Description:The recording took place under the roof next to the researchers' house behind a windscreen around 3 p.m. There is a video and an audio recording of this session. The recording is of linguistic value to the Awetí project.
This project aims at the documentation of the Awetí Language, a Tupian language of a small speech community in central Brazil. It is funded for the years from November 2000 to March 2005 by the VolkswagenStiftung in the Documentation of Endangered Languages Programme. The principal researcher, Sebastian Drude, initiated his research among the Awetí in 1998. The assistant researcher, Sabine Reiter, started to work in the project in 2001.
This file was generated from an IMDI 1.9 file and transformed to IMDI 3.0. The substructure of Genre is replaced by two elements named "Genre" and "SubGenre". The original content of Genre substructure was: Interactional = 'interview, consultation', Discursive = 'explanation', Performance = 'Unspecified'. These values have been added as Keys to the Content information.
049 gives a description of a typical day for an Awetí woman during the dry season.
The description is given in Awetí. Since the recording situation influences 049's performance, making her nervous and shy, some information is left out and the description becomes partially incoherent. Therefore Sebastian Drude, who is able to follow the description given in Awetí and perceives the omissions, asks her in Portuguese to add the missing information. ###
Even though 049 at the time of the recording had been working with Sabine Reiter for more than a month (with S. Drude participating for the last few days) so that she feels quite at ease with the researchers, the recording situation makes her shy and nervous.
049 is the daughter of 042 and 045. During the researchers' field stay 2003 she worked intensively at the data transcription together with her sister Autukumalu and 146's son Matirapa.
